Breast cancer deaths less than national average

FEWER women than the national average have died from breast cancer in Middleton, Heywood and Rochdale, over the past three years.

More than one woman a day, on average, died of breast cancer in Greater Manchester over three years.

The latest figures from the NHS reveal that a total of 1,263 women in the region died of breast cancer between 2013 and 2015.

That works out at 32 deaths for every 100,000 women in Greater Manchester, which is slightly below the national average.

Across Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale 94 women died from breast cancer between 2013 and 2015, a rate of 31 per 100,000 women, slightly lower than the rest of the region and the national average.

Across England, 28,532 women died of breast cancer over the course of the three years or 34 for every 100,000 women.

Across the country, the number of women dying of breast cancer has dropped slightly over the last few years.

Between 2011 and 2013, a total of 28,742 women in England died of breast cancer - more ●●New figures show the number of women dying from breast cancer in the Rochdale borough is less than the national average than 200 more than in 2013-15.

Similarly, in Greater Manchester the figure has dropped, although not by much - 1,285 women in the region died of breast cancer in 2011 to 13, around 20 more than the number seen over the next three years.
