Arrivals will give us an extra edge

HELLO all, we are looking forward to welcoming back our fans to the Crown Oil Arena for the Bradford Bulls game this weekend.

We have had our usual block of games away from home and now have four from the last six on home soil. All of the squad is refreshed, keen and ready to go for the run-in before the middle 8s.

Last weekend we travelled to Toulouse with a very young side and I was very pleased by the conduct of the players and how they performed in hot conditions against a very experienced Toulouse outfit.

We made the decision not to risk any players with the run-in we have against all the sides around us, and we have to prioritise games with players fitness and well-being.

We have made a couple of signings from Super League which will give us an extra edge now after losing a couple of players over the past month.

It was important we didn’t panic buy and be patient for the best players to become available.

Both Anthony Walker and Lewis Foster are huge coups for the club and I want to thank Adam Bates, Mark Wynn and the board for allowing us to strengthen at this stage of the season.

We believe we have come out of a very tough period and although we have only won one from the last 12 games we believe we can put a run together and meet our objectives set at the start of the season.

The win at Blackpool Bash was a fantastic spectacle and example of what the players can do, to be 28-12 down with 30 minutes to go and win 38-28 in a derby game on national TV must be a huge highlight for our fans who have suffered a bit this season!

We all knew this would be a difficult season but we would much rather be learning lessons in the Championship than winning by high scores every other week in League One.

The challenges the players and coaches have faced have brought us stronger together and a good quote I read last week was: “The darkest nights produce the brightest stars.”
