Carers bowled over by a week of celebration

-

CARERS were bowled over after a fantastic week which celebrated their inspiring work supporting family, friends and loved ones.

A ‘strike it lucky’ ten pin bowling evening was the highlight of a packed programme of events across the borough to mark National Carers’ Week.

The carers’ choir joined in the fun as they belted out classic tunes to an appreciative audience at the council’s Number One Riverside building.

The week was rounded off at Rebecca’s Cafe Littleborough, when carers of all ages socialised over coffee and cake.

Events were organised by The Rochdale Carer’s Hub who offer support, advice and information to over 24,000 carers across Rochdale.

Coun Iftikhar Ahmed, cabinet member for adult services, said: “The community came together to make it another Rochdale Carers’ week to remember. It was really heartening to see so many younger carers joining in the fun. All our carers do an amazing job and the week pays tribute to their selfless and tireless work. A huge thank you to them all.”

Teresa Jennings, chief executive of N-Compass, said: “It was a memorable few days underlining just how many dedicated carers we have across the borough.

“Our carers are inspiring people who are recognised and valued for the vital work they do. The Carers’ Hub is on hand throughout the year to offer help, advice and support. Thank you to everyone who made carers week across Rochdale borough such a success story.”
