East Lancs riders defy temperatures to put
LAST weekend the East Lancs Road Club members took part in a number of different events, all of which were affected by the hot temperatures and riders needing lots of liquid to keep hydrated.
On Saturday Paul Ashworth, Oliver Huszar and Ben Trippier took part in the E/1/2 Cat Race at the new 1.6 Km closed road circuit in Leeds at the Brownlee Centre.
The race was fast and the bunch split up early in the race with Huszar, right, catching the break and keeping his place throughout the race to claim third in the sprint.
Ben and another rider escaped the bunch part way through but never connected with the break and he had to settle for fifth place, with Paul in the bunch sprint claiming 13th place.
On Saturday evening the Kent Valley RC help their annual charity event 10 mile time trial on the fast L1015 course between Levens village and Lindale on the A590 dual carriageway in Cumbria.
Despite the heat there was still a headwind to the turn at Lindale and a following wind back but most riders recorded fast times.
The Club riders performances were; Roy Neild, 22:45 mins; David Trippier. 23:51 mins; Georgina Cape with another PB of 25:11 mins; Karen Bailey, 26:32 mins; and Pete Matthews, 29:18 mins.
