Bulls rap was our ideal motivation

-

WHAT a great way to celebrate Father’s Day last weekend with a win over Bradford Bulls, as we completed a league double over the Yorkshire side.

That’s something a lot of our fans have not witnessed for a long time, so it was a great honour to make it home and away wins over the Bulls.

My team talk had been done for me as some quotes coming out of their camp had given us the motivation we needed to prove our ability and desire, rather than the conditions, was the reason behind our win at Odsal in round two.

Our backs were against the wall for long periods in the game last Sunday and we stuck together as a unit and kept plugging away, before some unbelievable defensive efforts in the second period saw us home.

We have been through some tough periods this season but this group has stayed united throughout, and that was clear for everyone to see as we picked up just our second home win of the season.

The supporters were great once again, as they could have easily been intimidated by the large away following but instead they remained loud and proud. The players could hear their voices singing above the Bradford fans throughout and it was great to celebrate a victory with them after the 80 minutes were over.

We now face the tough test of a Batley Bulldogs side who put 70 points on Sheffield Eagles last week, and as we have found out twice this year Mark Ashton’s men are no push overs. They will arrive with plenty of confidence but we definitely feel like we owe them one.

When we faced the Bulldogs away from home we were on the wrong end of some bad calls which impacted our finish to the game, and we were bitterly disappointed that we couldn’t see out the contest.

The players need no extra motivation to pick up another two points in front of your great support, as we look to finish the first stage of the season strong and head into the Championship Shield with a great chance of fighting for silverware.

Your support is, as ever, hugely appreciated and we hope that you’re out in numbers once again this weekend to cheer the boys on. It really does make a big difference and in turn we hope to reward you with another victory.
