was enough to break Bradley Wiggins 11 year old course record by 4 seconds

On Sunday Ben rode in the Harrogate Nova road race which was a 60 mile race on the Pennypot Lane circuit north of Harrogate.

The bunch kept fairly well intact for half the race, probably wary of the heat, but it then woke up on the third lap out of five and a break of eight riders escaped and kept clear all of the way to the finish.

The bunch kept together until the last lap with individual efforts being made to escape all of which came to nothing and in the final uphill gallop to the chequered flag Ben came third making it an 11th place overall in the race.

After 2½ hours of effort riders were collapsing at the finish in desperate need of water, which was well deserved considering the efforts put in by all the riders

On Sunday it was the Lunesdale 100 mile Audax event.

The ride started at Catterall south of Lancaster and went north as far as Sedburgh before turning south and retracing on a slightly different route back.

Club riders Gareth Snell, Georgina Cape, Karen Bailey, Stuart Duggan and Roy Neild all successfully completed the ride in exhausting conditions.

Finally, the weather brought a lot of riders for the Sunday social rides with Bolster Moor café and Haigh Hall near Wigan being the destinations for two very enjoyable rides.
