Natasha cooks up idea for first children’s book

A BAKER who turned her hand to writing launched her first children’s book at her town centre shop.

Natasha Brown, who runs Brown’s Cakes on St Mary’s Gate, wrote Caught Cake Handed, featuring lead character Sweet Georgia Brown, and illustrated it using characters she created out of sugar paste.

The shop and its surrounding streets, form the backdrop for the story. The book, which also includes a recipe, took a year to write.

It was launched at an event at the shop, at which the Mayor and Mayoress Coun Ian and Christine Duckworth attended.

Natasha said: “I was overwhelmed to see the Mayor and Mayoress and so many other people at the book launch. Everyone had a really good time and were very complimentary about my book. I have lots of ideas in my head for further books about the escapades of Sweet Georgia Brown, the church St Mary’s in the Baum will feature in the next one.”

Caught Cake-Handed is the first in the Sweet Georgia Brown children’s series.
