Myton mistakes fresh in the mind

-

IT’S a long trip to Cumbria this afternoon for Mayfield who face Egremont Rangers.

Coaches Matt Calland and Sam Butterworth will be looking at making changes for today’s game as Mayfield try to get back on track after capitulating against Myton last week.

Despite being 22 points up, Mayfield lost concentration and appeared to just stop trying.

Credit to Myton though, as they spotted the change in Mayfield’s attitude and upped their game to take the spoils.

“Last week’s performance was just not good enough from a team with quality in every department,” said Butterworth.

“We were guilty of thinking we had won the game with still a long way to go.

“Hopefully we have learned lessons from the defeat and we have worked hard in training this week in preparation for this game.”

Egremont have failed to impress so far with only four wins from thirteen starts.

They will have noted last week’s result and will be looking to emulate Myton’s performance, so this will be a tough game for Mayfield but there long as they stick to the game plan.

Dave Harmer and Marvin Connolly are at the Mayfield Sports Centre today where their NWML side face in form Chorley.

Third-placed Chorley are one of Mayfield’s fiercest rivals in the race to top the table but the young Mayfield side fear no one and will be going into the clash supremely confident in their ability to win this game.

A big win last week at Bury Broncos has given them a big boost and refreshed their will to win.
