It’s third time lucky for Khan

-

JUNAID Khan believes previous experience of Lancashire life will prove crucial as he bids to secure his first piece of NatWest T20 Blast silverware with the county.

The 27-year-old is in his third spell at Emirates Old Trafford, having helped Lightning reach Finals Day in 2011 before leaving for international duty and returning to play in 2014. He is a popular figure with fans, team-mates and coaches alike.

“I’m very happy to be back at Lancashire this summer for the T20 Blast,” said the Pakistan left-arm quick.

“I loved playing here in 2011 and 2014, and hopefully we can do well again this year.

“It’s definitely nice to come into the changing room and know some of the players already.

“It was good to see some familiar faces when I arrived. I think that helps me perform better when I’m comfortable with who I’m playing with.

“When I was here in 2011, Glen Chapple was a player and now he’s the coach.

“He’s doing a really good job here - the players like playing for him. He’s a legend of the club.”

Not surprisingly, Junaid is full of confidence at the moment.

He was an integral part of Pakistan’s surprise Champions Trophy win in June, claiming eight wickets from four matches and being named in the ICC’s team of the tournament as a result.

“It’s great to come into the T20 having won the Champions Trophy with Pakistan this summer,” he said.

“It was a great competition to be part of and a dream to win it.

“I’m happy with the way I bowled, and hopefully I can help Lancashire to success.

“We have a good side, and I think we’ve got all bases covered.

“We’re a powerful batting side with good bowling options.

“I would love to win this trophy for the first time.”
