Impressive medal haul for Sparks team
EIGHTEEN young gymnasts from Heywood Sparks Gymnastics Academy travelled to Stockport to compete in the Floor and Vault Championships. A successful day was had by all the Sparks girls coming home with 2 Overall champions, and 25 medals.
The 7 year old competition was split into 2, younger and older, as there were many gymnasts entered from all over the North West. The younger section was dominated by the Sparks girls who took 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th Overall, along with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd on Floor, and 1st, 2nd and 3rd on Vault.
Star performer and Overall Champion was Lily Sewell, who also won 1st on floor, and 2nd on vault. Anya Foley was 2nd Overall, with 1st on Vault. Renae Da Silva took the Bronze Overall, with Bronze on Floor and Vault. Heidi Rae Seale came 2nd on Floor.
In the Older section of the 7 year olds Matilda Hall took the Gold Medal on Vault.
The other Overall Champion from Sparks came from Ava Cummins in the 8 year olds. She also took the Gold on Vault, and Silver on Floor. Her team mate Emily Cockcroft was 2nd on Vault.
In the 9 year old competition twin sisters Isabella and Ava Sherlock had some great performances. Isabella took the Overall Silver medal, with 2nd= on Floor and 3rd on vault, and Ava the Joint Silver medal on Floor.
Isabel Pacey competed in the 11 year old category. She was 2nd Overall, and also took silver on floor, and bronze on vault.
The last round was the oldest group 13+years. Charley Birds did a great vault to take 2nd place.
