Third win in a row for Boro
LITTLEBOROUGH brushed aside Saddleworth on Saturday to make it three wins out of three with a fine team performance at Well ith Hole.
Perren won the toss and selected to bat and his opening partner duly obliged by slapping the hapless Boyle for five boundaries in his first two overs as the visitors raced to 53 in 13 overs before Pye fell for 42 to Aslam with the score on 62.
Perren was next to fall when he surprisingly charged spinner Ali and even more surprising was the fact that keeper Holt held onto it and stumped the visiting skipper to leave the visitors on 85-2.
This brought in Miskella to join professional Burl in the middle as they amassed a 57 run partnership before Miskella was bowled for 20 by Howard with one that kept low.
Burl followed shortly after for 46 lbw to Sharif before Hernon took up the challenge and hit a quick fire 40 and was unlucky not to go on to his maiden first team 50 as the visitors finished on 211-8.
That should have been plenty on a tricky wicket but the way openers knight and Wilman bowled will have disappointed skipper Perren especially overseas knight who seemed to have no control over where the bowl was going.
The home side raced to 103-2 off 18 overs and looked well set for victory before the returning Wilman removed the home pro and Hadfield in successive deliveries to leave Saddleworth 116-4.
This became 116-5 when Miskella bowled Holt as finally he and Wilman gave skipper Perren some much needed control with the ball as the visitors finally started to turn the screw.
Kershaw then replaced Wilman and finished with excellent figures of 2-7 off 6.3 as the home side innings petered out for 149
Both Burl and Wilman finished with three wickets apiece and it was a pleasure to watch so many home grown players contribute to such a fine team performance.
