Wonderland theme for white rabbit wedding
IT was a nice day for a White Rabbit wedding. Joanna Ricketts and Sebastian Carter got married at Rochdale town hall in a flamboyant Alice in Wonderland/ Steam Punk-themed bash.
The 130 guests dressed up as the Cheshire Cat, the White Rabbit, the Queens of Hearts, the Mad Hatter – and bizarrely a giant whoopee cushion.
And just to add to the spectacle the happy couple’s pet sausage dog Fudge was a bridesmaid.
Sebastian said: “We’re not conventional people and we didn’t want a stiff, traditional white wedding with a loads of boring speeches, so we came up with the idea of something different.
“It was just a bit of fun, we just wanted to have the craic. We had a brilliant day.”
There were a couple of other wedding traditions Joanna, 47, and Sebastian, 36, who have been together 11 years, also eschewed.
The newly weds, of Belfield, Rochdale, went on honeymoon to Thailand and Cambodia before getting married and instead of spending their wedding night in a swanky hotel suite, they went camping in Littleborough.
Sebastian added: “We had the reception at Littleborough Rugby Club where the room was all done out in an Alice in Wonderland theme.
“After that we had a marquee at a campsite nearby with DJs on so the party carried on until about 6am, then we got a couple of hours’ sleep in our campervan.”
