Officials still incur Kilshaw wrath

-

ALAN Kilshaw was once again left frustrated with the officials after his Rochdale Hornets side suffered a narrow 26-22 away defeat to Sheffield Eagles on Sunday.

Eagles picked up the victory at Belle Vue, though in the end Hornets still had their Championship status confirmed due to other results in the division.

Despite that, Kilshaw was still keen to win the match against Eagles, and was unhappy with how the officials affected the game.

“I’m proud of my players but we deserved more from the officials, and I’m disappointed with that aspect,” he said.

“We’re talking about the same things on week 29, and it doesn’t seem to be getting any better, that’s the most frustrating thing.

“I can’t get over the disallowed try. The referee is right there on top of it and goes to give it, but then looks at the touch judges who are 10 metres away and doesn’t give it.

“There were a few times when the rules weren’t imposed.

“I thought we did enough to win though, and thought the effort was there, especially as it’s been a tough week this week.

“We had to paper over the cracks a bit from last week in terms of injuries, so the effort was outstanding.

“I thought we showed what we’re all about in terms of unity, and we all worked hard for each other.”

Up next for Hornets is a trip to Bradford Bulls next Sunday in their final Championship match of the season.
