HOLLINGWORTH Lake will be turned red and white when this year’s Santa Dash and Dawdle is held in aid of Springhill Hospice.

On Sunday, December 10, hundreds of fundraisers dressed as Father Christmas are expected at the beauty spot for one of the hospice’s biggest fundraisers of the year.

Last year 600 people took part in the event raising an incredible £20,000.

Lillie Winterbottom, Springhill Hospice’s event organiser, said: “Last year families, friends and work colleagues from all over their borough donned their red and white suits, pulling out all the stops to create a fantastic morning.

“We had families, individuals, teams and even whole companies getting involved.

“Entries have already started to flood in and it’s set to be another wonderful year.

“We’re keeping our fingers crossed for a scattering of snow to accompany the Santas and the carols being played by Wardle Community Band to give the event that traditional Christmas feel.”

To take part visit springhill.org.uk/santadash-2017 or pick up an application form from any of the charity shops, Springhill’s Tea Room, from the hospice or contact fundraising on 641790.

Meanwhile the hospice is also appealing for donations for the Christmas fair which takes place on Sunday, November 19, from 11am-4pm.

Springhill’s new events and corporate fundraiser, Sophie Ansley said: “We are so fortunate to be part of such an amazing community, one that we know we can rely on to help us.

“At this time of the year we really need donations of a variety of different items from chocolate to homebake, bottles of wine and spirits to bath time smellies, bric-a-brac to good-asnew, all of which will be used to help raise vital funds at our Christmas fair and other seasonal fundraisers.

“Last year Springhill’s Christmas fair alone raised over £12,000 for the hospice, your donations could boost that total and with the money raised going to patient care, your donation whether a bar of chocolate, a hamper of festive fair or a bag of unwanted children’s toys, will raise money to make a difference to someone in your community.”

Donations can be dropped off at the hospice reception, Springhill Tea Room or at any of the nine charity shops throughout the borough.

Please mark your donations ‘Christmas Fundraising Appeal’.
