WHIZ Kids became wordsmiths as they learned about all things literature at Rochdale Exchange.

The shopping centre hosted the final session of the prize-winning kids club for this year on Monday October 23 in support of the Rochdale Literature and Ideas Festival, with everything from educational crafts and games to storytelling and creative writing.

Youngsters of all ages had the chance to join the centre’s brainiacs Norman Nobel and Judy Cator for lessons on literature, including how Bob Dylan won the Nobel Prize for his song writing and extracts from books by award-winning authors.

Lorenzo O’Reilly, centre manager at Rochdale Exchange Shopping Centre, said he was delighted to welcome Whiz Kids back to the centre after such a successful summer of fun.

“Here at Rochdale Exchange, it is really important to us to show our support for the town’s events, especially something so inspirational and captivating as the Literature and Ideas Festival,” he said.

“Each year we like to emphasise to our younger shoppers that reading can be exciting and we thought this was the perfect opportunity to host a Whiz Kids all about literature, as it fit so perfectly with our Nobel Prizethemed kids club.”

As part of the session, guests also had the chance to graduate with their very own Literature Prize Medal, as well as have their photograph taken to slot into the last section of their Whiz Kids workbook.
