Camps pleased with side’s level of control

-

CALLUM Camps feels Rochdale have started to exert a greater level of control over games in recent weeks.

Following a tough start to the season during which Keith Hill was denied key men due to illness, injury and suspension, Dale have gradually started to turn a corner. And Camps reckons the improved performances on the road have been key to that.

“We’ve started taking more control of games as the season has gone on,” he told the club’s official website following Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Plymouth.

“We just need to make sure we’re scoring a few more goals and cutting out those small mistakes to start turning draws into wins.

“But a draw away from home is much better than a loss, which we kept getting last year.

“The boys have done well to get back into the game, so we were happy with a point in the end today.”

Next up for Dale and Camps it’s the first round of the Emirates FA Cup with a tie against Bromley at the Crown Oil Arena on Saturday.

The midfielder is relishing what he feels will be a difficult game.

“It’ll be a tough test against a Conference side who’ll be up for it, but we will be as well, so it should be a good game. It’s one we’re looking forward to.

“We’ve got some great memories of the FA Cup over the last few years, and I’ll never forget last year’s goal at Maidstone. Hopefully we can get a good run in the competition this year again.”
