Superfit OAP Gladys hits 100

-

AGE is no barrier to exercise for superfit centenarian Gladys Rayburn.

Gladys celebrated her 100th birthday by attending her regular exercise class at Rochdale Leisure Centre.

She has been attending the Active Living sessions for last two years.

They are specifically aimed at older adults and those with long-term health problems.

The classes help improve their overall mobility, health and quality of life.

Gladys thanked everyone for the special celebration and added: “I’ve been coming here for two years now and I love it. The best thing is, as well as improving my health I get to meet so many different people, otherwise I’d just be sat at home on my own. ”

Elaine Stott, from Link4Life, which runs the classes, added: “it’s been an absolute pleasure to work with Gladys over the last two years she really is an inspiration.

“Delivering on the Active Living sessions is the best part of my week, to meet so many great people, who are making such improvements each week, being able to tailor exercise so they can achieve their goals is amazing, and the cup of tea and a chat after each session is a whole lot of fun.”
