PROPERTY AT THE PEAK OF ITS POWERS

-

T here are some people who may think the small Peak District town of Cardale – featured in the TV drama series Peak Practice – is real.

But it wasn’t, although during the 10 years that the ITV drama ran from the mid-1990s onwards it often seemed like it was.

Originally starring Kevin Whately, Simon Shepherd and Amanda Burton, it ran for 12 series and followed the working and personal lives of doctors working in the made-up rural community.

Cardale was in fact a TV amalgam of several villages in the Peak District and, although filming also took place in the Staffordshire village of Longor, other locations included the village of Crich, Winster, Fritchley, Matlock, Belper and Ashover.

For Peak Practice fans, there’s now a chance to own a property featured in the series.

It’s The Old Bank House in Winster which appeared several times in the series as one of the character’s homes.

The property is a combination of three period properties including the village’s post office, bank and chemist, which are now a single home.

“The Old Bank House presents a very special and rare opportunity to buy a lovingly restored, unique home filled with character,” says estate agent Chris Charlton, head of residential at Savills Nottingham.

“It’s like nothing I’ve ever seen before and the current owners have linked the three properties together cleverly and seamlessly under architectural direction to create a home of wonderful space, preserving the original features and structures throughout.”

It’s for sale at £795,000 via Savills (0115 934 8000).
