To Take a Breath is sound advice
MELIYAH Khan is a 15-year-old woman who is engaged in the NHS Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG)-funded Stories We Could Tell project and has written her first review for All Across the Arts.
She explained: “I love creative writing and want to be a writer, a novelist. I am planning to study A Levels in English literature, politics and history and then study law at university.”
Unusually for her generation, she has wide ranging and eclectic tastes in music, from classical to alternative rock.
She has reviewed Take a Breath, Here We Go, an original song written, sung and composed by her friend Eleanor Grace Edgar.
She said: “This song begins with a melodious piano introduction accompanied by melancholic undertones, which only add to its beauty.
“Eleanor’s lyrics are extremely raw and pure, the whole song is about life and its obstacles but also finding your way.
“It has a hopeful and empowering vibe, fuelled by emotion. The line ‘so just take a breath and here we go’ sets the tone for the rest of the song, it depicts clearing your mind and preparing for the road ahead.
“The lyrics, ‘life will give you puzzle pieces with no map to start, but you’ll see things from wildest dreams and hold them in your heart’ clearly portray how life can be unclear and unpredictable at times, however your dreams will spur you on and carry you through hard times.
“My personal favourite line from this song is ‘you can’t change the hands of time,’ because it perfectly shows how it is pointless to be hung up on the past because it cannot be altered, the only way forward is to look to the future and move on.
“The final line marvellously rounds off the song, ‘so just take a breath and off you’ll go.’ The lyric superbly describes how, once you have cleared your head, accepted the past and moved on, you will find your way to success and happiness. This song has a beautiful message and is full of heart, soul and love and was written by Eleanor for her cousin’s first birthday. I would strongly recommend you to all listen to it.
