Teams of three set to start

THERE is a ‘teams of three’ se­ries of open matches start­ing on January 14th, two sec­tions on Croft, one sec­tion on Rochdale Canal.

Matches (five in to­tal) on January 14th, 21st, 28th and Fe­bru­ary 4th and 11th.

Draw 8.30am fish 10am un­til 3pm.

There was a prac­tice ‘knock up’ on Croft last Sun­day ready for the teams of three se­ries. This match is not on the mem­ber’s ticket for 2018 -and is a ‘one off’ agreed at last Wed­nes­day’s Com­mit­tee meet­ing.

The first de­liv­ery of fish for the canal ar­rived on Thurs­day January 4th.2018 -in the pour­ing rain!

These fish are be­ing stocked with the very much ap­pre­ci­ated help of a grant from The Com­mu­nity Foun­da­tion for Calderdale.

Fish were stocked as fol­lows;Fin­neys (Lock 15-16) and Gas­works/ Wood­house (lock 16-17) 412lb Roach(6”-8”) plus 50 Tench (8”-10”) plus 39lb of Bream and a few Carp.

Sand­holme/Derdale/ Bake­house sec­tion (lock 17-18) 335lb Roach (6”-8”) plus 100lb Carp (8oz to 1.5lb) plus 40lb Bream.

The other de­liv­ery is ex­pected late January/early Fe­bru­ary. The Canal & River Trust also helped fi­nance this re­stock­ing. Where’s Fish­ing? Rochdale CanalTod­mor­den Sec­tions.

Loads of small to medium size Roach on small baits-Punched Bread, Pinkies, Squatts. Worm and Caster for the bet­ter fish Bream,Chub and odd Carp. Still­wa­ters a bit slow ow­ing to colder weather-wait for a milder spell to give them a try es­pe­cially if it’s carp you are af­ter.
