Teams of three set to start

THERE is a ‘teams of three’ series of open matches starting on January 14th, two sections on Croft, one section on Rochdale Canal.

Matches (five in total) on January 14th, 21st, 28th and February 4th and 11th.

Draw 8.30am fish 10am until 3pm.

There was a practice ‘knock up’ on Croft last Sunday ready for the teams of three series. This match is not on the member’s ticket for 2018 -and is a ‘one off’ agreed at last Wednesday’s Committee meeting.

Ten fished -after a very hard frost. Result. 1.Adam Kitson Peg25 46lb 2oz small Carp pellet/pole 2. Rob McKendry Peg 17 7lb 1oz Silvers on Pole/maggot 3. Simon Newsham Peg18 4lb 6oz Silvers on Pole/maggot John Taylor Peg 8 4lb 6oz One Carp Tip/corn

The first delivery of fish for the canal arrived on Thursday January 4th.2018 -in the pouring rain!

These fish are being stocked with the very much appreciate­d help of a grant from The Community Foundation for Calderdale.

Fish were stocked as follows;Finneys (Lock 15-16) and Gasworks/ Woodhouse (lock 16-17) 412lb Roach(6”-8”) plus 50 Tench (8”-10”) plus 39lb of Bream and a few Carp.

Sandholme/Derdale/ Bakehouse section (lock 17-18) 335lb Roach (6”-8”) plus 100lb Carp (8oz to 1.5lb) plus 40lb Bream.

Loads of small to medium size Roach on small baits-Punched Bread, Pinkies, Squatts. Worm and Caster for the better fish Bream,Chub and odd Carp. Stillwater­s a bit slow owing to colder weather-wait for a milder spell to give them a try especially if it’s carp you are after.
