Woman beaten in brutal carjacking
AWOMAN was beaten with a weapon during a brutal carjacking in Rochdale.
The 52-year-old was walking through Morrisons supermarket car park and had reached for her keys when she was struck repeatedly over the head with an unknown object.
The two men who attacked her then demanded the keys to her black BMW 1 Series and drove away in the stolen vehicle. The victim was taken to hospital for treatment, having suffered bruising to her body, cuts to her head and a bruised left eye.
Officers are now appealing for witnesses following the incident at 6.40pm on Wednesday, January 3, at the supermarket on Kingsway.
One of the suspects was described as about 5ft 3in. He had a hood up and wore a round face mask. The other man was around 5ft 10in and medium build. Both were wearing all black outfits.
Det Con David Read, of GMP’s Rochdale team, said: “Everybody should be free to go about their daily lives without fear of being attacked when carrying out simple tasks such as shopping. The audacity these two individuals have shown by inflicting wounds to the woman in a supermarket car park is beyond comprehension.”
