Boss ties up loan deal for Imp Knott

-

KEITH Hill landed midfielder Billy Knott at the third time of asking ahead of the weekend’s clash at Gillingham.

Knott joined the club on loan from Lincoln City until the end of the season.

“I’ve chased him three times in the past and missed out on him on all three occasions, so I almost gave up,” Hill told the club’s official website.

“Billy can open doors, and he can be the link between defence and attack. He can put the ball on a six-pence and he can also be quite creative.

“He has got to integrate quickly and I think he could be fitter for the way that we play, but those are the demands that I put on all of our players. That hasn’t changed in the three years since I first engaged in conversation with Billy about why I thought he should join the football club, and I think he has regretted maybe not joining us in the past.”

Heading in the opposite direction is Jordan Williams, who joined the Red Imps on loan until the end of the season.

Hill commented: “I’ve not given up on Jordan.

“I’ve still got a lot of faith in him. He is our player, but he needs to play football matches.

“Looking at the situation that we’re in, and what we need to do, I just thought it was good business for both clubs.”

Meanwhile, striker Jordan Slew’s short-term contract expired last week and he has left the club having not been offered a new deal.
