Residents can get on the bus to learn digital skills

ROCHDALE residents and businesses will be able to learn digital skills on the go, as part of a free Google training scheme offered on a bus that is visiting the town for the first time on Friday (February 9).

The Google Digital Garage bus will be parked outside Number One Riverside on Smith Street from 10am to 5pm offering free workshops and face-to-face coaching, with visitors having the option to either book in advance or simply drop by for on-the-spot help.

Training ranges from beginner to intermedia­te levels meaning everyone can take part, and covers topics such as taking first steps online, CV building and social media strategy.

Coun Janet Emsley, the council’s cabinet member for neighbourh­oods, community and culture said: “This is great news for Rochdale. The Digital Garage is a place where anyone can come and learn how to harness the power of the internet to grow their business, learn more about the internet, or develop new vocational skills. The bus will stop outside Rochdale Central Library at Number One Riverside all day on Friday, February 9, so please do come and get free digital skills coaching.”
