Kitch has designs on Lions
MARK Kitching said the Rochdale squad were looking to take Saturday’s winning performance into last night’s Emirates FA Cup fourth round replay against Millwall.
Kitching, who made his sixth consecutive start for Dale at Sixfields, said the players were “buzzing” in the changing room after the 1-0 win.
“We’re all really pleased. I thought we did really well and I think we deserved to win,” he told the club’s official website.
“We had a few chances, I had one or two, but we’re all just buzzing to get the win.
“It was a massive game and we needed the win, and we’ve come here and put on a good display.
“Myself and Andy Cannon, especially in the second half, got on the ball more and got at their back four, sliding in the wingbacks and Calvin and Hendo, so I think it worked really well.
“I was buzzing when Calvin scored and I think we deserved to win the game, and hopefully we can kick on from this now, start winning more games and climb up the league table.”
The midfielder, who joined the club on a permanent deal in January 2017, was hopeing Dale could take the display into Tuesday’s replay against Millwall at the Crown Oil Arena.
“We’ve built on that performance and played really well today, got the three points, and hopefully we can take that into Tuesday night and get through to the fifth round.
“Against Millwall last week we were really unlucky not to beat a Championship team.
“We did really well against them, so hopefully we can take what we did against Millwall at The Den and try and take them on at home and hopefully beat them this time.
“We should have really won there, but hopefully we can put on a good performance and beat them.”
