Seven designs on list for major award
THE waiting will soon be over for the new developments in the running to be made the best in Rochdale.
Winners of the Rochdale Borough Design Awards will be announced on Thursday, February 15, during a ceremony at the town hall. Two awards Rochdale Borough Design Awards will be given – the Rochdale Borough Design Award, chosen by a panel of experts, and a People’s Design Award, voted for by residents.
Seven developments made the shortlist, with owners and architects now awaiting the final results.
Competing for the awards are:
●●Refurbishment and extension to the ‘Bird at Birtle,’ Heywood
●●River Roch re-opening, Rochdale town centre
●●Restoration of 51-53 Rochdale Road, Middleton
●●Flats at Daventry Road, Kirkholt
●●Refurbishment of Newgate House, Tetrosyl headquarters, Rochdale
●●Refurbishment of the Wellington Hotel, Rochdale town centre
●●Houses at Longridge Drive, Heywood
Coun John Blundell, the council’s cabinet member for regeneration, said: “These awards really encourage and recognise quality design in our borough which in turn is promoting the investment we are seeing in our environment. Once again we have seen some distinctive and popular entries. It is positive to see how these awards are growing.”
