Pals to tackle charity marathon challenge

-

A PAIR of friends are taking on their first ever marathon together in support of a cancer support centre.

Lisa Wilde and Jo Haywood are taking on the Manchester Marathon in April.

Lisa and Jo have run a half marathon before, but this is their first attempt at the 26.2 mile challenge

The pair are currently working through a six month training plan, which has seen Lisa running to Hollingworth Lake and back.

They have been friends for 20 years after meeting when they both worked as cabin crew and still work together at the airline.

Lisa says there is a very special reason behind their chosen charity. She said: “We decided to run in aid of the Bury Cancer Support Centre because they are such an amazing place.

“In the last three years both my mum and her sister - my aunt - have been fighting breast cancer and the centre offers good company, complimentary therapies, counselling, wholesome food and more for anyone affected by cancer.

“They have been a lifeline for my mum, aunt and our family.

“A true support to us all. The staff are amazing.

“They are caring and supportive but also work hard to keep the place going mainly from donations. So I wanted to help them in some way after all they have done for us.”
