Return to form as Highfield hit back

HIGHFIELD returned to winning ways in the Newbold Tyres Premier Division with a 3-1 win over Coppice United but had to come back from a 1-0 deficit.

And Williams scored the equaliser for Highfield in the 75th minute, when he got on the end of Manny Martins cross.

Lewis Altimas and Brierley both scored to ensure Highfield bounced back to winning ways with their first win in four.

Highfield’s man at the helm Wayne Whitlow said: “I would like to add my usual praise for a very good referee and also for the spirit Coppice showed throughout the game. A very good sporting contest throughout.

“The game started with a very fast tempo and Coppice had massively improved throughout since the last we played. The only downside was a bad injury to club captain Craig Wood who might not be able to play again due to a really serious back injury. We hope for a speedy recovery.”

Elsewhere, in the Third Division, Rochdale Dynamos and Donkey FC drew 4-4 after an end-toend battle.

Dynamos opened the scoring through Kieron Best, before Calvin Brignano scored on his debut for the club.

McKenzie Maguire then made it 3-0 before Donkey pulled one back to give themselves a lifeline.

Donkey then responded well in the second-half scoring two goals, both from penalty-kicks, as the sides went in level.

Both sides scored again but neither was able to pinch all three points.

Jimmy Ray, Dynamos manager said, “It was a superb effort from my team. We played a very good Donkey side who until today had only conceded eleven goals all season. We were unlucky not to get all three points, but I’m proud of my players and we go again next week.”
