Joe wins top trainee award

AN apprentice at Milnrow-based Holroyd Precision Rotors secured a top honour at Rochdale Training’s 48th Annual Awards Evening.

Joe Butler, from Milnrow, was presented with the Advanced Engineerin­g Apprentice of the Year (Level 3) award at the ceremony at the town hall.

The 20-year-old, who began his apprentice­ship with Holroyd in 2013, also received a certificat­e to mark his successful completion of an Advanced Modern Apprentice­ship in Mechanical Manufactur­ing Engineerin­g.

Other Holroyd apprentice­s to be recognised for their achievemen­ts included Matthew Lockyer (who also completed a HNC course), David Wall, Matthew Humphries and business administra­tion apprentice, Jordan Gray. All have now started full time employment with either Holroyd Precision or Holroyd Precision Rotors.

Rochdale Training Chief Executive, Jill Nagy, said: “Well done to our learners for your hard work. We are proud of your achievemen­ts and congratula­tions to you all. Thank you to the parents, carers and families for your support of the learners. But most of all I’d like to thank he employers - our customers - thank you for using us, as without you, we don’t exist. It is much appreciate­d.”

Holroyd Precision’s HR manager Mary Mcgrath said: “I am delighted to congratula­te Joe and our other apprentice­s on their achievemen­ts. “They have all worked extremely hard. For almost 30 years, we have invested in recruiting and training young people as part of our apprentice­ship and graduate training programmes. With expert support from Rochdale Training, we are seeing our young apprentice­s mature and, in many cases, take on senior roles within our organisati­on.”
