THESE dramatic images show the damage to an Aldi store after a BMW ploughed into the front doors.

Incredibly, the driver wasn’t badly hurt, suffering only minor injuries.

Shocked shoppers snapped pictures of the wreckage at the store in Rochdale on Monday evening.

The car was left a crumpled mess after smashing through metal bollards and into the store’s glass doors, which shattered, leaving glass strewn across the pavement.

Metal door frames were left bent and broken and some window panes crashed to the floor.

The BMW’s roof buckled following the impact and all the windows appeared to smash.

No-one else was hurt, police said.

It is not known how the car ended up hurtling into the store, on Mellor Road. GMP said an investigation had been launched. No arrests have been made.

It took firefighters more than three hours to pull the damaged vehicle from the wreckage

A spokeswoman for Greater Manchester Police said: “We were called at around 6.30pm last night to reports of a collision involving a BMW and a supermarket on Mellor Street.

“The ambulance and fire service were both called to the scene.

“A man was treated at the scene for minor injuries. He was taken to hospital.” They managed to get the car out at about 9pm from the shop.”
