A trio of shows to come at Octagon

- Steve@aata.me

THE new season at the Bolton Octagon includes three different theatre experiences – a production of Summer Holiday that starts in a bus station and includes a bus ride, Gulliver’s Travels in a park that is transformed into Lilliput and the story of the 1923 Cup Final performed at a football stadium.

Summer Holiday is an innovative production that features songs such as The Young Ones, Living Doll and, of course, the title track Summer Holiday. This retelling of Cliff Richard’s classic story sees the feel good 1960s musical brought to life as never seen before.

The show begins at Bolton’s new travel interchange and includes a musical bus journey to Victoria Square where audiences then make their way to the Octagon for the conclusion of the performance.

It is on now until Saturday, June 23, at Bolton Interchange, Victoria Square and the Octagon Theatre. Tickets cost £18.50 to £27.50 (concessions available).

Gulliver’s Travels brings Gulliver’s fantastical adventures to life in the Octagon’s first outdoor walkabout theatre experience, set in Bolton’s Queens Park.

A production based on the novel by Jonathan Swift, this is a new adaptation by Satinder Chohan and Mike Kenny, directed by Elizabeth Newman and Ben Occhipinti, which sees Queens Park transformed into the extraordinary land of Lilliput.

The show is on from August 6 to 27 at Queen’s Park - please note this is a promenade performance and will involve moving to different locations within the park. Tickets cost £15, £12 for concessions.

And Did Those Feet by Les Smith and Martin Thomasson, directed by David Thacker, won the hearts of audiences and critics alike when it was first performed to sell out houses in 2007.

Now it will be shown at the home of the Wanderers – the Macron Stadium.

It tells the story of the FA Cup Final in 1923, Bolton Wanderers v West Ham United.

Wedding plans, a footballer lost in the war and the myth of the man who walks from Bolton all the way to Wembley. A group of Boltonians find their lives transformed by 11 men in white shirts on an unstoppable march to Wembley.

And Did Those Feet will be shown from October 21 to 31 in the Lion of Vienna Suite at the Macron Stadium. Tickets cost £14.50 to £28.50 (concessions available).
