Improving Mayfield head to Hull

-

MAYFIELD attempt to extend their winning run to three games today but they have a tough task in front of them with a journey to West Hull on the cards.

The Humberside team are just outside the play off zone with four good wins under their belts.

A positive result could see Mayfield climb the table and see the season began to look a little more respectable for them.

Wests haven’t been a free scoring side and have at times struggled to get points on the board, but their defence has been outstanding with only Wath Brow having a better points against column in the table.

Their last game was a resounding win over Siddal so they are certainly a team to be reckoned with, but Mayfield are getting back to winning ways and starting to look a bit more like their old selves.

Paul Brearley is hitting his old form as are Aidy Gleeson and Callum Marriott and the return off Callum Ogden and Luke Fowden has lifted the team giving a much needed morale boost.

Even better news this week is the return to the squad of Jack Sampson and Si Moore, two quality players who may just give Mayfield the edge in this game.

The NWML side have a tough game on too, they entertain table topping Walney Central at the Mayfield Sports Centre.

Walney have only lost once this season and will be a tough outfit this afternoon.

Mayfield though are relishing the opportunity to avenge the defeat Walney inflicted on them earlier in the season.

Mayfield took a strong side to Cumbria but had a slow start before turning the game round late in the second half, going down 36-24.

Like the NCL side things are going from strength to strength for the team and they have been getting stronger with each game.
