ADAY of fine food and music was had by all at Springhill Hospice’s Summer Serenade.

Scores of guests laid out their picnic blankets and deckchairs in the grounds of the Broad Lane hospice while entertainment was provided by the Voice Choir, former The Voice contestant Acoustix with Faheem, soloist Leah Fisher and St Aidan’s Ukulele Group.

The evening was compered by reigning Man of Rochdale John Alexander, AKA the singing jeweller.

Writing on Facebook, the hospice said: “A wonderful sun soaked evening of music, food and friendship at Springhill.

“Thank you to everyone who joined us and to all the talented musicians and volunteers who gave of their time and talents freely to raise money for patient care.

“It was a wonderful evening of music, laughter, food and friendship, creating ‘forever memories’ for everyone.”

There’s another chance to enjoy the hospice grounds while also raising money for the charity next month the Summer Garden Celebration takes place.

From 11am to 3pm on Sunday, August 5, the guests can take a tour of the gardens and buy some of the plants and produce.

There will also be garden games, face painting and craft stalls.

Visitors will asked to make a small donation on entrance.

Members of the public who have bought a sunflower plaque in the hospice Sunflower Appeal are also invited to plant their plaque in the hospice gardens during the day.
