Kilshaw swoops for Wales under 19s star

-

ROCHDALE Hornets have signed talented half-back Elliott Jenkins for the remainder of the 2018 season.

Jenkins, 19, joins from St Helens having been at the club since the age of 14 and played through the academy and at both under 19 and reserve grade.

He is also a member of the Wales under 19s squad, coached by Ant Walker.

Alan Kilshaw, pictured, said: “Elliott is a player we have been monitoring since we were made aware he could be available at the end of the season. Ant Walker was really impressed with him the Wales camp last week so we made an enquiry to see if we could have him now.

“Fortunately Saints have been really cooperative and allowed Elliott to join up with us until the end of the season, releasing him to do so.

“He will add depth and competition to the halves – something we haven’t had since Lewis Palfrey’s unavailability.”

As Hornets head into a vital part of the season, the coach has his sights set on competing in the Championship Shield.

“Elliott’s signing is further evidence of our committed preparation to finish the season well and build for the Championship Shield.”

Jenkins did not play a part in Hornets’ victory against Swinton Lions on Sunday but could feature in the weekend’s game against Leigh at home.
