Mayfield’s daunting task against bogey side

-

ROCHDALE Mayfield are under the cosh today as they face fierce rivals Siddal at the Mayfield Sports Centre.

Although having lost their last two games, Mayfield have performed well, only going down by two points last week and six the week before at Egremont. In the last four weeks Mayfield have faced the top four teams in the country and today’s opponents Siddal are fifth.

So although they have only won one of those games there have been some really positive performances from Matt Calland, right, and Sam Butterworth’s team.

Today’s game sees them in a battle, with possibly six players missing for various reasons including holidays, injury and representative call ups.

Siddal have been a bogey side for Mayfield over recent years and you have to go back to april 2015 for Mayfield’s last victory. All that said, the lads that step up today will be out to show that they have what it takes to stay in the top flight.

Luckily the NWML side have no game today and their players will be available to step in. They have been playing a good level and turning in some great performances.

Topping the first division and playing with skill and flair has been good preparation for the lads and although the step up is massive they willl all feel that they are ready to face the challenge.
