Canadian adventure for Hornets

-

ROCHDALE Hornets head coach Alan Kilshaw admits there will be a few changes when his side heads to Canada to take on Toronto Wolfpack this weekend.

Hornets head into the match on the back of a 54-32 defeat at home to Leigh Centurions last weekend, but Hornets put in a commendable effort at the Crown Oil Arena.

They now face a tough game against Toronto, and Kilshaw has provided some insight on which sort of team will play in the game.

“There will be a few that can’t come to Toronto which is unfortunate, but a few of the other lads have trained really well and kept a good attitude,” he said.

“It will be a different 17 but will be the strongest available, so we’ll be looking for another good performance. It will be a good trip for us but we know there is a game at the end of it and we need to play well.”

It will be an extremely difficult game for Hornets today, as Tornoto are eight points clear at the top of the Championship table, having won 19 of their 21 games so far this season, drawing one and losing the other.

Kilshaw will be hoping there is an improvement from the officials in this weekend’s game, after admitting he was extremely frustrated couple of the decisions in there,” he said.

“We have three officials that need to pick up on things, and I don’t want to be too critical but there were some baffling decisions in the game.

“Everyone is fighting for things at the moment. Leigh are fighting for the top four and we are fighting to stay in the competition, so there shouldn’t be leeway given to certain teams because of their stature or experience.

“I feel there were some weak decisions made last week, and perhaps that was due to some experienced players potentially getting into the referee’s ear.”
