Treat school run as a big adventure

-

RE: The report of the boy born in Littleborough travelling to school in Rochdale (Observer, Saturday, June 30).

In 1942 when I was 11 years old and living in Whitworth, I went to Littleborough Central School - two buses!

My twin sister (having passed her scholarship) went to Heywood Grammar School - two buses - and knowing no one.

I stayed five years and am still in touch with two new friends I met that first day.

Please mum, support the lad, give him a sense of adventure, he will make friends the first day, maybe on the first bus. Margaret Deakin Middleton

CCTV IS WATCHING

ON Tuesday July, 10, 2018, someone on Cleveley’s Avenue authorised the removal of a tree at the back of their house.

The people they hired to do this did not do a very good job and then dumped all their pruned branches in Broad Lane Community Woodland, where local dedicated people have spent months making the site more accessible and wildlife friendly.

To add insult to injury they also pruned branches from a tree in the woodland which they were definitely not entitled to do.

So if you are the person who authorised the job or the ones who carried it out be warned that all activity in and around the woodland is being monitored by CCTV.

And if you are found out you will be prosecuted. John Herbert Broad Lane
