How you can stop paint peeling off windowsills

-

WHAT should I paint windowsills with? Anything I use keeps peeling off.

Liam Farrell

USE a stiff scraper and take off all loose, flaking paint and then sand the sills to smooth off existing paint.

Next use an external filler like Sandtex Masonry Filler and fill the dents where the flaking was. Smooth out, sand the filler and paint the sill with something like Sandtex Masonry Paint. PLEASE can you give me some tips for repainting a metal garage door?

Bruce Vaughan USE wet and dry paper to sand back all the rust spots. Apply two coats of Hammerite Direct to Rust Metal Paint or Hammerite Garage Door Paint.

If this is anything as good as Direct to Rust Paint you’ll be fine. MY daughter’s kitchen has a black tiled floor with a couple of chips. She has redecorated and wants to paint the floor. But it’s a galley kitchen and I feel the paint would wear. Is vinyl her only option?

IT will wear but no faster than varnish on a wooden floor. Blackfriar does some really good floor paints, and you can also use a product called Lithofin Tile Restorer.

You could lay a wooden floating floor over the tiles which would only add about 12-18mm to the floor height.

If you are going to lay vinyl you will need to fill over the grout lines to prevent them showing through.
