Aldwinians on receiving end of Boro blitz

-

BOOSTED by the return of a number of players, Littleborough Under 11s thrashed Aldwinians 13-6 at Audenshaw Park.

Five from Daniel Taylor, a hat-trick for Max Rawlinson and other tries from Timon Warby, Callum Sharrocks, Lexi Hartley, Billy Eastwood alongside a full length score from Ellis Johnson brought about a very fruitful Sunday afternoon for the visitors.

The Under 9s took on Aldwinians in what was only their second game at tackling and it looked like they have been doing it for years!

Boro’s 11 players made up two small sided teams with the help of Aldwinians who lent a player to make six on each side.

Team gold coach Adam Bracegirdle was so proud of his team as a barnstorming run up the middle from Lewis Bracegirdle created space for Cody Bush, Lewis Wales and Ollie Fletcher to all get on the score sheet. A special mention this week goes to man of the match Aden Kolbuck for his dazzling side step and tireless efforts in defence.

There was another fine display from the greens, coached by Neil Makinson. They put Aldwinians on the back foot in both in attack and defence on numerous occasions. The stand out performance that saw Jack Ashworth cover every blade of grass earnt him man of the match.

While special mentions also go out to Alfie McLoughlin and Noah Caulfield both scoring their first tries for the club and Harry Tweddle for his nifty foot work and turn of pace.

Littleborough’s under 13s were put to the sword by Waterloo in group A of the cup competition. Frustrated for the most part, the boys struggled to find their rhythm and extra quality against a clever rugby team, losing 45-10.
