Ali implements plan of action

-

ROCHDALE boxer Muhammad Ali is continuing to go from strength to strength in his professional career after making it two wins from two last Saturday.

Ali successfully defeated Danny Little on points after four rounds of their bout at Victoria Warehouse in Manchester to extend his unbeaten record to 2-0.

The Rochdale man was in total control throughout the fight, as he dominated from the first bell to win all four rounds and take a 40-36 points verdict on referee Jamie Kirkpatrick’s scorecard.

It is just his second professional fight since becoming the UK’s first professional boxer with type one diabetes, after a long battle to gain his license from the British Boxing Board of Control.

Ali is now set to make a speedy return to the ring, as he is due to compete on a bill taking place at the Macron Stadium in Bolton on December 8, and he is pleased with how things have gone in his career so far.

“I felt great in the ring against Danny Little. I didn’t force my work in there and I was on my toes a lot. I’ve been working a lot on my feet,” said Ali.

“I was nice and sharp in there and picked my shots. We had made a lot of adjustments for that camp and we did some good work.

“I was breaking Danny down and I think the longer rounds will suit me better. I’m now straight back in the gym and back out in a few weeks.”

Ali’s manager Asad Shamim was instrumental in helping the Rochdale boxer receive his license, and he is also happy with how Ali’s career is panning out.

“Ali has got a vision in his mind and an objective in his mind, and he’s on track at the moment,” said Shamim.

“He’s fighting again on December 8 for his third fight and he wants to stay in the ring and keep on top of his game. He’s the person making the decisions and we agree that staying active is the right choice.”

Ali’s victory over Little on Saturday was part of a packed bill at Victoria Warehouse, which saw Liam Taylor defeat Tyrone Nurse in the main event.

It was an entertaining and back and forth battle throughout the entire 10 rounds, with Taylor earning a narrow split decision win which will potentially earn him a shot at the British welterweight title.

Also on the undercard there were wins for the likes of Luke Evans, Kane Gardner, Joe Eko, Bradley Rea and Adam Farrell.
