Threats to shop staff in robbery
THIS is the shocking moment three brazen robbers emptied the tills and cigarette kiosk of a Co-op in Rochdale.
Police have released CCTV footage of the raid which took place at the Co-op, on Rooley Moor Road, on Monday, November 12.
The three men can be seen walking into the shop at around 8pm and two of them immediately jump over the counter.
A third man is seen carrying a white duvet cover.
The trio, appear to carry a weapon, thought to be a screwdriver and quickly prise away the cash tills.
They then empty the contents of the cigarette kiosk into the duvet before fleeing from the scene.
Staff members were also threatened during the incident, police say.
The men could be seen leaving the area in a white hatchback car, which turned right on to Rooley Moor Road in the direction of Spotland Road.
Greater Manchester Police have released the CCTV footage and are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with further information to come forward.
The men were white, in their 20s and wearing black sportswear. Their faces were covered with black balaclavas.
DC Amie Whitehead of GMP’s Rochdale borough, said: “Luckily no one was injured, but it is disgraceful that hard-working people should be subject to such a terrifying ordeal when they are at work.
“If you witnessed the robbery or saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area at the time, please get in touch with police.
“Please take a close look at these CCTV images, and if you recognise any of these men I would urge you to get in touch with us as soon as you can.”
