Swifts exit Cup after Dalians run riot

IN the Christine Robinson Memorial League Cup second round, Manchester Swifts lost 5-0 against Rochdalian­s to bow out of the competitio­n.

The Summit Inn won 2-0 against Cartshaft, whilst Chaddy End secured a 4-2 win against Oldham GPO in the Memorial League Cup.

In the Newbold Tyres Premier Division Coppice United won 4-0 against AFC Kearsley and have climbed up to fourth place in the running.

Yassar Farooq, Coppice United’s manager said, “Having played Kearsley in the week prior we were expecting to have a close game. We have a few players back from injury and got our goals at the right times before and after half-time.

“Zaid [Shabir] worked tirelessly upfront and managed to put us in the lead with minutes to spare in the first-half.”

Shabir went on to secure a hat-trick and close out the game from AFC Kearsley.

In the MFA County Cup Limeside King George scraped a win after extra-time and penalties against Manchester Maccabi.

The match ended 3-3 but with the penalty win, Limeside scraped through to the Fourth Round.

Newhey Rovers demolished Warmersley Conservati­ve Club by 8-1 in the Manchester Brick Specialist First Division.

They sit at the top of the table six points clear of the team above.

Elsewhere Newhey Lodge SB edged out a 2-2 draw against Wardlewort­h to cement their thirdplace position.
