Rochdale Observer

Handmade cards and festive fairs

-

IN our weekly Time-Trip feature, we take a look back at events happening in Rochdale in years gone by.

Each week we will showcase a selection of pictures taken by Rochdale Observer photographers.

This month we remember Rochdale’s festive celebrations over the years.

Our first picture of the week (above) is a shot of the Friends of Sudden Library Christmas craft event held at Brimrod Methodist Church, Roche Valley Way, Rochdale, in 2004.

Pictured are: craft lady Janice Bottomley, Jean Murray and Jean Welby with craft supplies and pre-made Christmas cards.

Next (top right) is a snap shot of Isobel Turner, Joyce Robinson and Viveene Riley helping at the cake stall at the tarten-themed Christmas fair held at St Andrews Church, Smith Street, Rochdale, in 2005.

Next (bottom right), also at the tartan-themed fair, Emmie Thorpe and Bessie Skelton dress for the occasion.

Finally, our last picture of the week shows deacon Gary Hoare, along with his happy helpers on the cake table Marie Hamer and Jean Welby, at the Brimrod Methodist Church Christmas Fair in 2005.

If you have pictures that you would like us to feature, send them to communities@men media.co.uk or submit them via the Rochdale Observer Facebook page. ●●Isobel Turner, Joyce Robinson and Viveene Riley on the cake stall
