Dalians set for head to head with Middleton

ROCHDALIANS and Middleton Town will meet in the final of the Chris Shyne Memorial Trophy after winning their respective semi-finals.

Rochdalians asserted their domination against AFC Kearsley winning the cup-tie 8-2, whilst Middleton Town managed a difficult 2-1 win against Littleborough.

Despite suffering an early 2-0 deficit, Rochdalians fought back to both control and dominate the second half.

Lewis Helm and players that the early goal will decide the game.

“We need to forget the last time we faced them and do everything we can to win.”

Both sides have tough league games on Sunday, Rochdalians face AFC Kearsley again, whilst Middleton face Elton and Walshaw, both sides whom are fighting hard to avoid relegation come the end of the season.

In the Manchester Brick Specialist First Division Avenue returned to winning ways with a 7-5 win over Jockey.

Avenue striker, Carlton Norford scored four and was instrumental in his side clinching the win in the dying stages of the game.

Adam Thomas, Avenue’s coach said, “Yeah, I’m pleased with the way that we bounced back from defeat, but we made it difficult for ourselves.

“We switched off after half-time and let them come back to 5-5. When I brought Carlton back on he put us back into the lead on the 90-minute mark.”

“We still see the league title as something we can grasp I think It could be between us and Limeside [King George]. We’re confident to going to our next few games, even the upcoming semi-final.”

Avenue next face Manchester Swifts in the cup before playing Prestley in the Semi-final.
