Hoos for a pint of ‘Mr A’ then?

-

THE official beer for this year’s Rochdale Feel Good Festival has been unveiled.

‘Mr A,’ inspired by the name of main stage act The Hoosiers’ top four single ‘Goodbye Mr A,’ is a limited edition 3.8 per cent pale ale.

Brewed by Rochdalebased Serious Brewing Company, organisers say it’s packed with flavour and is ‘sure to be a summer hit.’

The festival beer will be available on draught from Friday, August 9, at The Flying Horse Hotel, The Baum, The Old Post Office in Castleton, The Bird at Birtle, The Cemetery Hotel, The Church Inn, Spotland Social Club, Owd Betts, and the Crown Inn at Bacup.

Husband and wife duo Ken and Jenny Lynch opened their artisan micro-brewery in 2015 and it’s the fourth time they’ve brewed an official Feel Good Festival tipple.

The growing business supplies more than 50 pubs in the north of England and via distributors nationwide including London and Cardiff.

On the first Saturday of every month they also serve their own beers to the public at the brewery on Fieldhouse Road in Rochdale.

Last year more than 1,700 pints of the official beer were consumed and Jenny Lynch from The Serious Brewing Company said she’s excited about 2019.

She said: “We really look forward to the Feel Good Festival each year. It’s a brilliant event with a great atmosphere and a favourite with many of our customers so we are excited to be brewing the official beer again.”

The song ‘Goodbye Mr A’ from The Hoosiers debut album ‘The Trick To Life’ was a big hit for The Hoosiers in 2007, created in memory of frontman Irwin Sparkes’ secondary school teacher Jonathan Anderton. It has since featured in numerous film and television programmes.

Rochdale Feel Good Festival returns on Saturday, August 10, with live music across indoor venues, a main stage, a Family Zone as well as quality food and drink.

This year playing the main stage will be headliner The Coral, pop/ rock band The Hoosiers, rock ‘n’ roll band Alias Kid, northern soul maestros The Northern SoulTrain, new singer/ songwriter Ione, Caribbean pop act The Curious Incident, Rochdale country rockers Between The Vines, singer/songwriter Megan Dixon Hood and children’s favourite Mr Bloom and his band.
