Plans to open new children’s home
A SPECIALIST provider in residential childcare has lodged plans with the council to open a new facility.
Meadows Care Ltd propose to open a new home at 8 Smithy Bridge Road, Littleborough, with accommodation for two or three children aged 10 to 18 and their care staff.
The company operate 18 other residential children’s homes in the north west and the West Midlands and bosses say the detached property in Littleborough is ‘ideal to be run as a home’.
A planning statement said: “The property will provide a domestic residential environment for young people, providing therapeutic care as necessary.
“The majority of young people we care for have experienced trauma and instability in their lives and may also have experienced moving home numerous times.
“Meadows Care understand this and are aware of how to work with such children and also work to ensure they develop positive relationships which enables them to flourish.”
If approved, the care home would employ seven full-time staff and a registered manager and be registered with Ofsted.
One large bedroom will be divided to provide an extra bedroom and there will be no structural changes to the building.
Meadow Care Ltd said: “We are an experienced, well established company who have successfully set up and run 18 other children’s homes.
“All our homes are specifically designed to look and feel like a normal family dwelling.”
A decision will be made by the council in the next few months.
