ASCHOOLBOY has been growing his hair for two years to donate to charity.

Anthony Sweetman-Curran, 10, from Castleton, hated going to the barbers, and as a result has grown his hair to over eight inches long.

When mum Aimeelea Curran, 33, suggested he donate his hair to the Little

Princess Trust, for children who have lost their hair, Anthony was excited to help others.

Aimeelea is proud of his decision - and Anthony has already said he’d like to grow his hair to donate it again.

Aimeelea said: “He is a very kind little boy and he’s very sensitive.

“He loves what he’s doing and knows why he’s doing it.

“He’s a very nice boy and he wants to help others I’m very blessed.” Anthony has also raised £155 for the charity, donated by friends and family.

He will be having his hair cut in August by the hairdressers Aimeelea goes to, Beyond Bronze, on Manchester Road.

Aimeelea will be filming it, and taking lots of photos.

She said: “He hates going to the barbers which is why he’s been growing his hair for so long.

“He deserves some recognition for what he’s doing. We’ve taken the GoFundMe page down now because we’re happy with the total.

“I’ve said if he wants to grow his hair he can grow it and that’s fine - his school have been great about it too.”

Aimeelea has mixed emotion about the haircut, but Anthony’s first reception class photo is of him with short hair.

The 10-year-old Castleton Primary pupil’s end of school photo will also have short hair. She said: “He’s proud of himself.

“I love his long hair and I’m dreading having it cut.

“I want to keep a lock of it.

“I’d like his last picture at the school to be of him with short hair for the comparison. “He has lovely hair.” The Little Princess Trust creates wigs for children who have lost their hair.
