Luncheon in safe hands!

-

THE annual Rochdale Man of the Year lunch will feature a goalkeeping legend as its special guest.

Bruce Grobbelaar, winner of the European Cup with Liverpool, will take to the stage as the guest speaker for the event - to be held on November 22 in aid of Springhill Hospice.

The award will honour the ‘unsung’ man considered to have made the most significant contribution through hard work and dedication to the local community.

The event’s description reads: “Celebrate with the retiring Man of Rochdale John Kay and Liverpool goalkeeping legend, Bruce Grobbelaar, as they present the new Man of Rochdale Award to the 2019 winner. Enjoy a beer reception on arrival, then adjourn to the Great Hall, sit back, relax whilst dining on a delicious four course meal.

“We are delighted to announce legend goalkeeper, Bruce Grobbelaar as the luncheon’s guest speaker. Bruce will entertain guests, telling tales and highlights from his football career and joining in the celebrations with the new Man of Rochdale.”

Grobbelaar, 61, played for the great Liverpool side of the 1980s and early 90s, winning the league six times, as well as three FA Cups, three League Cups and the 1983–84 European Cup. He made over 500 appearances in English football, as well as 32 caps for the Zimbabwean national side.
