Newhey pick up first win

MIDDLETON Town have continued their perfect start to the RDSFL First Division season, with a 3-1 win against Rochdale Sacred Heart.

Jordan Burton, Danny Goodier and Adam Fitton were among the goals, which keep Middleton Town at the top of the division in game week three.

Meanwhile, Newhey Lodge Sports Bar picked up their first points of the season with a comprehens­ive 4-1 win in their visit to Oldham GPO.

The result will give them confidence going into their next encounter, against current champions Rochdalian­s.

In the second Division Spotland Social Club acquired a strong 4-0 win against Rochdale Dynamos.

The win continues their stint at the top of the table, due to a goal difference of 11 in their three games thus far.

In the same Division North Manchester Lions picked up the biggest win of the weekend after securing a 9-1 win against an out-of-sorts Wardlewort­h.

The win is their second in four games, but highlights the side’s capacity for goals.

MPG, Duke of Wellington and Empire also all claimed wins in the Second Division.

In the Third Division, Avenue Seconds maintained their unbeaten start to the season with a 5-0 home win against Breighmet Wanderers.

Avenue Seconds have now registered two wins and a draw since joining the league this season.

Mitchell Clarke and Callum Ormrod were amongst the five different scorers for Avenue this week, yet defender Andy Bowe was crowned man of the match.

Meanwhile former league leaders Game Cock were defeated by Woodbank.

AFC Swan now take their place as league leaders following a 4-0 win against Chaddy End Old Boys.

Swan are the only side in the Division who maintain their perfect record so far this season.
