Dojo on top at World Champs
TEAM DOJO returned from the World Martial Arts Games Championships held last weekend in London with an amazing haul of 45 medals (11 Golds, 23 Solvers and 11 Bronze) adding to the already highly successful pedigree of World Champions over the last 12 years.
The WMAG Champs attracted over 20 countries and were held over three days at Egham, London.
Sensei IRFAN ANSARI (Chief Instructor) of The DOJO Karate Centre on
Castlemere St, Rochdale said: “The Standard of performers was very high at this year’s World Champs.
“Our athletes performed brilliantly and behaved on and off the mats as ambassadors for their families, the town (of Rochdale, Oldham, Middleton) and Great Britain.
“While there is always room for improvement, I was pleased with the results we got.
“However, I would like to see our athletes convert those Silvers into Gold medals next time.
“Best Performances were from Lucia Walter,
Diya Kerai and Daniel Tarasevic.
“I think our results speak for themselves with 45 medals from 13 medal winners from 16 athletes is fantastic news with many competing at the World level for the first time showing our coaching methods are very strong and have been working well for over a decade shining a huge spot light on Rochdale across the globe.
“I hope our athletes will continue to aspire to higher successes.”
Team DOJO members competed in many different events according to their age and belt level ranging from Individual Kata, Weapons Kata, Team Kata, Weapons Team Kata, Open Team Forms, Kumite, Points Kickboxing, Continuous Kickboxing and Selfdefence which are all taught to them at the The DOJO on Castlemere St, Rochdale.
