Jimmies on the up and up

-

HEYWOOD St James First Team moved up to second place in the MFL Premier Division last Saturday when they demolished Beechfield United at Salford Sports Village.

Remarkably it was Jimmies second visit to the Village as on Saturday 7th September last they contested in yet another ten goal thriller when defeating Beechfield 9-1 in the first round of the Manchester FA Saturday Challenge Trophy. A quite remarkable game especially for Jimmies striking wingman James Conroy who banged home a brace in a sparkling display.

Last Saturday’s league game was even better for the modest Conroy who doubled his previous visits tally by firing home

Four goals in an 8-2 mauling of the sorry Salford side with three of his goals coming in an exciting first forty five minutes as further goals from on debut new boy Francesco Frangillo and a rare strike from Jake Brooks giving a healthy 5-2 half-time lead.

The second half produced a further three goals to the rampant Heywood outfit-Conroy adding his fourth of the match, Frangillo thumping home his second, leaving Connor Gately to enter the fray, coming off the bench to put the icing on the cake with a brilliant lobbed goal and completing a stunning 8-2 victory.

James Conroy, and his Quartet, deservedly earned the man of the Match Award.

Jimmies Reserves were left kicking themselves when, for 90 minutes, they over ran Altrincham Hale Reserves only to have to settle for a 1-1 draw after leading 1-0 through a Jackson King goal.

Late in the game Hale levelled when an uncharacteristic defensive error allowed a tame effort find its way into the back of Jimmies net.

George Rowley was nominated as Man of the Match.
